MAZIBUKO TO WALK IN SOLIDARITY WITH EASTERN CAPE LEARNERS TOMORROW

On Friday, 13 April 2012, I will join DA Parliamentary Leader Lindiwe Mazibuko MP, DA National Spokesperson Mmusi Maimane and DA Shadow Minister of Education Annette Lovemore MP in walking in solidarity with learners who must walk up to 10 km to get to school every day.

In the Eastern Cape there are thousands of learners who continue to have to walk long distances every day to receive an education, with the province failing to provide transport to schools in many areas. The walk of solidarity aims to highlight this continuous problem.

There will opportunities for interviews and photographs.

Date: Friday, 13 April 2012

Time: 6:00 am

Meeting point: eMbekweni Village, outside of Queenstown, Eastern Cape

Directions: From the R67 Queenstown to Whittlesea main road, turn right onto the R351 road (1km from the Engen garage, Whittlesea).

Travel straight on this road, which is tarred half way (the rest is gravel – accessible for light motor vehicles) until you reach the Oxkraal Dam (that is the beacon to look out for).

Immediately after the dam you will arrive in eMbekweni Village, which will be the meeting point.
