The Democratic Alliance welcomes the news that a mobile police unit has been set up in Tholeni-village. (“Relief for terrorised villagers”, Daily Dispatch, 21 June).
This is an issue which I have been driving through letters and phone calls to the MEC for Local Government, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, a number of media statements to the Daily Dispatch and other print media, and talks on the community radio station in that area.
I remain determined to fight for the rights of the citizens of our province who have been let down by the current government, so that they can enjoy real freedom under our Constitution.
The DA believes that communities have the right to live a life they can value. This means that they should also live in safety, no fear. Everything the government does should be to make a better life possible for the people of South Africa. Where the DA does not govern, it holds the ruling party to account. Where we do govern, we deliver.
Thank you Daily Dispatch, for the role you have played in highlighting the plight of the residents of Tholeni.
