ANC IS RUNNING SCARED OF DA IN BUTTERWORTH

The ANC in Butterworth is clearly running scared of the DA when they have to resort to abusing state funds in order to shore up their flagging support. I have been informed that the MEC for Social Development, Pemmy Madjodina, and ANC activists, dressed up in ANC T-shits and party colours were at the Msobomvu Hall in Butterworth today (subs: Tues, 29 Jan) where they distributed uniforms to learners of the surrounding schools.

The Department of Social Development has a budget available under programme 1, which makes provision for Imbizos and the supply of items such of school uniforms to needy individuals. However, today’s mass distribution is an utter misuse of public money for political gain. The ANC continually blurs the lines between party and state and this is another example.

The DA believes in clear, transparent government, not the blatant abuse of power and party politicking as demonstrated by the MEC. It is obvious that she is campaigning for herself and the party for the upcoming ANC provincial conference and the 2014 general elections.

I have asked legislature for written reply to the Premier, Noxolo Kiviet, in order for her to account for the funds and to explain where the money for the uniforms came from.
