EC road fatalities: 24-hour law enforcement needed

On behalf of The Democratic Alliance I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families that lost a loved one during the tragic accidents in Willowvale and Cradock, claiming 44 lives.  We wish God’s richest blessings and speedy recovery to the victims who are in hospital.

The DA calls on the MEC for Transport, Weziwe Tikana, to sort out the red tape with Resolution 14 of 2009.

A shift-system needs to get up and running with immediate effect to implement the long overdue  24-hour law enforcement on Eastern Cape roads in order to reduce horror-accidents such as the ones experienced in province this weekend. — Marshall von Buchenroder MPL, Shadow MEC for Transport
