DA wishes 2015 matrics all the best for finals

The Democratic Alliance would like to wish all of the Grade 12 learners well as they embark on their exams which begin on Monday, 26 October 2015.

We wish them success and believe that they will represent the Eastern Cape well.

There have been numerous demotivating situations that our learners have had to endure this year; such as:

  • Severe teacher shortages within many schools.
  • Overcrowded classrooms which are not conducive for teaching and learning.
  • Unpleasant learning environment which include dilapidated buildings with little to no school furniture.
  • Lack of subject content in certain critical subjects (Maths, Science and Accounting) offered by unqualified educators.
  • Shortage of classrooms in some schools which resulted in two or three subjects being taught in one classroom concurrently.
  • The multi-grade teaching phenomenon is still prevalent in many schools.

Despite all of the disrupting conditions under which some of our learners have had to study this year, we believe and trust in their abilities to achieve astounding results nonetheless.

We commend all of our educators, although faced with numerous challenges in the Eastern Cape, for their hard work and dedication to our learners – this has not gone unnoticed.

The Matric year represents a pivotal time in one’s life and offers the opportunity to set the tone for an individual’s adult life going forward.

We urge the Grade 12 class of 2015 to refrain from any untoward behaviour as was exposed in the class of 2014 but to work hard, burn the midnight oil and make their parents or guardians proud.

We believe in you.
