Tomorrow, 19 April 2016, Democratic Alliance Leader, Mmusi Maimane MP, will address students at the University of Fort Hare (UFH), where the DA Students’ Organisation (DASO) has governed the 100-year-old university for the last year.
The DA Leader will be on the East London campus, ahead of the SRC elections taking place on Thursday, 21 April 2016, to rally behind DASO to receive a clear mandate to successfully govern at the University.
The Leader will be joined by DA Eastern Cape Provincial Leader, Athol Trollip MPL, Provincial Chairperson, Veliswa Mvenya MPL, DA Eastern Cape Provincial Executive Council Member, Nqaba Bhanga MP, DA Youth Interim Leader, Yusuf Cassim MP, and UFH SRC President, Busisiwe Mashiqa.
Despite the ANC-aligned SASCO working with PASMA to use their majority on the SRC to block delivery to students, the DASO-led SRC has registered a number of successes, including ensuring that students receive their allowances earlier than ever before.
The address will take place as follows:
Date: Tuesday, 19 April 2016
Venue: ELCO Test Venue, University of Fort Hare, East London Campus
Address: 50 Church St, East London
