THE article “Court grants Bhisho’s wishes” (Daily Dispatch, September 13) refers. The findings by the Grahamstown High Court for an urgent hearing regarding the redeployment of 4 200 excess teachers in the province is to be welcomed.
The pathway to real freedom is having access to decent education. It is only fair that our schools should be allocated enough teachers so there is a teacher in each and every available classroom.
The South African Democratic Teacher’s Union (Sadtu) must stop hampering the redeployment process. It’s time the union proves its worth and commits to the interests of our children and the province, instead of hampering education. — Edmund van Vuuren, MPL, Shadow MEC for Education, Bhisho
