DA assists in cleanup of neglected Zanempilo clinic in Gonubie

Members of the DA climbed in and helped to cut the grass at the poorly maintained Zanempilo Clinic in Mzamomphle in Gonubie recently.

Patients outside the overcrowded Zanempilo Clinic in Mzamomphle in Gonubie has to take their chances in the long grass outside if they need a place to sit and wait their turn.

Overcrowding at the Zanempilo Clinic in Gonubie leaves patients in the queue with no choice but to wait outside, where there is no seating.

The overgrown grounds of the Zanempilo Clinic in Mzamomhle in Gonubie are so appalling that members of the Democratic Alliance assisted staff and patients by cutting the shoulder- high, overgrown grass recently.

Clinics are the lifeblood of our state healthcare services and the first point of call for those whose health depends entirely on the services provided by the Eastern Cape Department of Health.

I am shocked by the overcrowding and lack of seating at the clinic, where patients have no choice but to sit on the steps outside or take their chances in the long grass. The overgrown grounds provide hiding places and a refuge for all sorts of thieves and thugs

I have submitted legislature questions to the MEC of Health, Dr Phumza Dyantyi regarding the neglected state of this clinic.

The DA believes that patients and staff deserve reliable, safe access to clinics in well-maintained grounds.¬† — Celeste Barker MPL, Shadow MEC for Health¬†
