DA TAKES THE LEAD (AGAIN)

The DA received an unexpected endorsement regarding its role as opposition party recently.

Former Cope MPL Mtiwabo Ndubo said: “I feel the public has been misled by Cope. The DA in the legislature is again taking the lead, instead of the official opposition”.

The quote stems from an interview in Die Burger of 9 September 2009 with political reporter Anri Cronjé. Numerous members of Cope have resigned due to factionalism over the provincial leadership of the party.

Legislature Leader Bobby Stevenson said the DA continues to play the leading opposition role in the legislature. “We are the only
opposition party that has posed any questions for oral and written reply in the Legislature.

“We are very happy to work with other opposition parties and there is a good cooperative spirit among all parties,” he said.
