EASTERN CAPE ‘FISCAL TIME-BOMB EXPLODES’

THE Eastern Cape government is set to be overspent by R2,7-billion by the end of the current financial year on March 31 as the province’s “fiscal time-bomb explodes”.

Commenting on the current state of affairs, DA finance spokesman Bobby Stevenson said  he had warned in July last year that this would happen. “It is now time for the premier to show her mettle and charge the relevant officials in terms of the Public Finance Management Act”.  The overspending would have “horrific consequences for the next financial year”.  Read the full story in The Herald.
