Following legislature questions and continued pressure from DA agriculture spokesperson Veliswa Mvenya, farmers are finally receiving drought relief from the government.

According to the Department of Agriculture they received over 6 000 applications. A total of 405 commercial- and 2 200 emerging farmers will receive help.

However, the R18-million which is currently being paid out is not nearly enough. It is estimated that the need is at least R51-million.
