Whether any 2010 Soccer World Cup tickets have been or will be purchased by the Provincial Government for free distribution; if so, (a) at what cost and (b) what are the further relevant details?
123. Mr D B Haddon to ask the MEC responsible for Provincial Safety, Liaison and Transport:
(1) How many vehicles (a) were weighed at the Kinkelbos weighbridge during the 2009/2010 financial year and (b) exceeded the stipulated weight restrictions;
(2) what amount in revenue was generated from overloaded vehicles that were found to have contravened weight specifications at this station?
124. Mr D B Haddon to ask the MEC responsible for Provincial Safety, Liaison and Transport:
(1) Whether all taxis in the province had displayed the registration details on their vehicles as required by the National Land Transport Act, Act 5 of 2009, as at the latest specified date for which information is available; if not, how many taxis have not displayed these details on their vehicles;
(2) whether any steps have been or are to be taken with a view to ensuring enforcement of this regulation; if not, why not; if so, what steps;
(3) what is the target date for full compliance with this requirement?
125. Mr D B Haddon to ask the MEC responsible for Provincial Safety, Liaison and Transport:
(1) What progress had been made with establishing the Provincial Registering Entity as required by the National Land Transport Act, Act 5 of 2009, as at the latest specified date for which information is available;
(2) whether all the regulations, as required by the Act, to implement the issuing of operating permits to taxis have been (a) adhered to and (b) enforced by her Department; if not, why not;
(3) how many taxis in the province had been (a) impounded and (b) fined for not having the required permits to operate as at the latest specified date for which information is available;
(4) whether the fines issued to such taxi drivers will be waived by her Department; if so, why?
126. Mr P E van Vuuren to ask the MEC responsible for Education:
(1) Whether he has been informed that Soutpan Primary School in Port Elizabeth, a section 20 school, applied on 28 August 2009 for funds from their unused allocation for maintenance in order to undertake urgent plumbing, electrical and roof maintenance work; if so, (a) why were these funds withheld if they had been allocated for maintenance;
(2) whether he has been informed that certain funds allocated to other section 20 schools in the Port Elizabeth district were withheld in the 2009/2010 financial year; if so, why were these funds withheld;
(3) (a) what are the names of all the section 20 schools in the Port Elizabeth area and (b) what amounts were (i) allocated to and (ii) utilised by these schools in the 2009/2010 financial year?
127. Mr P E van Vuuren to ask the MEC responsible for Education:
(1) Whether he has been informed that not all learner/teacher support material (LTSM) arrived on time for the opening of schools in the province in 2010; if so,
(2) whether any steps have been or are to be taken with a view to ensuring that LTSM arrives on time for the 2011 academic year; if not, why not; if so, what steps?
128. Mr P E van Vuuren to ask the MEC responsible for Education:
Whether any action has been or will be taken against educators in the province who refuse to allow class visits from senior education specialists and integrated quality management systems monitors; if not, why not; if so, (a) what action and (b) when?
129. Mr J Bici to ask the MEC responsible for Agriculture and Rural Development:
(a) How many farms in the province were gazetted under land claims and subsequently degazetted between 1 January 2008 and 31 March 2010, (b) when (i) were they degazetted and (ii) are they likely to be regazetted and (c) what impact did the degazetting have on (aa) the farms’ productivity and (bb) the owners’ farming activities?
