BAY MUNICIPAL WORKERS ON STRIKE TODAY

MUNICIPAL services are set to grind to a halt today when about 130000 members of the SA Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) stage a countrywide strike.

Dacre Haddon, the DA’s provincial spokesman on local government, said that as little or no legal action has been taken against such culprits before, Samwu must be held criminally and civilly liable for any of its members who embark on unacceptable practices such as trashing streets and damaging property during the strike.  Read the full story in The Herald.
