RURAL HOSPITALS IN CRISIS AFTER HUGE BUDGET CUTS

DEVASTATING government budget cuts have left many small-town Eastern Cape hospitals with up to 80% less funding than they need simply to survive – and could force them to close down within the next three months, leaving thousands of patients without basic medical care.

DA provincial health spokesman Pine Pienaar said he was lobbying to secure more funds for Eastern Cape hospitals through the Adjustment Appropriation Bill and the government’s promised R1.6-billion OSD payout.  Read the full story in the Weekend Post.
