BOARD’S BIG HANGOVER

LAST week the Democratic Alliance’s John Cupido said the Eastern Cape Liquor Board failed to get even the basics right. This was Cupido’s response after we heard that the board, obviously suffering from a major babalaas, tried to pass off last year’s budget and strategic plan to the Economic Development and Environment Department portfolio committee as being a new one for this financial year.

Let me tell you another sad story. In March last year Bulelwa Mayatula, who was appointed by the board as an inspector in 2008, closed down the Tshomane Bottle Store, which is somewhere in the Transkei, because bottle store owner Bulelwa Kobus allegedly had failed to renew her liquor board licence fees.  Read the full article in the Daily Dispatch.
