Legislature leader Bobby Stevenson visited Port Elizabeth Animal Welfare last weekend. The well known centre is situated on the Schoenmakerskop road near the Walmer Township in the city.
The organisation helps animals in need from all over the city and is in dire need of financial aid.
“The big issue here is funding. Stirling work is done by a wide network of volunteers, but they cannot go it alone,” said Stevenson.
“I wanted to see for myself what the situation is here. It is the policy of the DA to care for all God’s creatures. Animal welfare is something that is close to many people, and should not be pushed aside for human needs,” he said.
