272. Mr R S Stevenson to ask the MEC responsible for Social Development:
(1) How many public servants in the province were (a) investigated for social grant fraud, (b) taken to court and charged with social grant fraud and (c) convicted of social grant fraud in (i) 2005/2006, (ii) 2006/2007, (iii) 2007/2008, (iv) 2008/2009 and (v) 2009/2010;
(2) how many of the public servants referred to in paragraph (1) above signed acknowledgement of debt forms;
(3) how many public servants who benefited illegally from social grants but who were not charged in court faced internal disciplinary action in each of the financial years referred to in paragraph (1) above;
(4) what total amount was lost due to social grant fraud in the province from 1 April 2005 up to and including 31 March 2010?
273. Mr D B Haddon to ask the MEC responsible for Human Settlements:
(1) What progress had been made with the recruitment of housing inspectors in her Department as at the latest specified date for which information is available;
(2) how many housing inspectors (a) are needed and (b) had been recruited as at the latest specified date for which information is available;
(3) what qualifications or requirements were set as criteria for the recruitment of these applicants;
(4) whether these housing inspectors had undergone any training as at the latest specified date for which information is available; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
(5) whether these housing inspectors had commenced work as at the latest specified date for which information is available; if not, why not; if so, when did they commence work?
274. Mr D B Haddon to ask the MEC responsible for Human Settlements:
(1) Why has the Portfolio Committee on Housing not been furnished with the report on the alleged housing corruption in the Sundays River Municipality, as reported in the media on 21 July 2010;
(2) why was the media given this report before the Portfolio Committee, when the report was reportedly commissioned by her Department;
(3) when will the Portfolio Committee be furnished with this report?
275. Mr D B Haddon to ask the MEC responsible for Human Settlements:
(1) What was the status of the Tobias housing project in Bethelsdorp, Ext 32, in the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality as at the latest specified date for which information is available;
(2) (a) what criteria were used to appoint the contractor to undertake the work, (b) what was the original amount of the contract and (c) what amount was paid to the contractor;
(3) whether the contractor has been brought to book in respect of this project; if not, why not; if so, when;
(4) when will rebuilding and rectification of these properties be undertaken?
276. Mr J C Cupido to ask the MEC responsible for Finance, Economic Development and Environmental Affairs:
(1) How many liquor licence applications were received by the Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB) in (a) 2009 and (b) 2010 to date;
(2) how many of the (a) 2009 and (b) 2010 applications were (i) approved, (ii) rejected and (iii) still outstanding as at the latest specified date for which information is available;
(3) what are the reasons for the outstanding applications in respect of 2010;
(4) (a) how many liquor licence applications for the years preceding 2009 were outstanding as at the latest specified date for which information is available and (b) why are these applications still outstanding;
(5) (a) how many licence renewals were dealt with in (i) 2007, (ii) 2008 and (iii) 2009 and (b) how many renewals are still outstanding in respect of each of these years?
277. Mr J C Cupido to ask the MEC responsible for Finance, Economic Development and Environmental Affairs:
(1) How many times did the Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB) meet in (a) 2007, (b) 2008, (c) 2009 and (c) from 1 January 2010 up to and including the latest specified date for which information is available;
(2) (a) how many ECLB inspectors were there in the province as at the latest specified date for which information is available and (b) where are they based in each case;
(3) (a) how many vacancies were there within the ECLB as at the latest specified date for which information is available and (b) what are these vacant posts in each case?
