The latest Ipsos Markinor survey has shown that the Premier of the Eastern Cape, Noxolo Kiviet, was rated the lowest of all the Premiers. Only 30% of those surveyed in the province believed that she had done well. This is a drop from last year where she was rated at 33%.
This low rating is a reflection of the deep-rooted anger that people in this province have with the poor state of service delivery. This should serve as a wake-up call for the African National Congress to root out maladministration in this province.
This rating highlights the lack of faith that people have with the government in the province and is symptomatic of a rotten administration. We simply cannot afford to let non-performing civil servants continue to get away with poor performance.
Especially tough action needs to be taken to put Education and Healthcare back on track.
The voters of this province have the opportunity in next year’s municipal elections to send the ANC a powerful message that it’s time for change by voting for the Democratic Alliance.
