DA provincial spokesperson on education, Edmund van Vuuren and the party's leader in the legislature, Bobby Stevenson, visited the offices of the Department of Education in Sidwell in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday morning where teachers, parents and pupils were protesting over the state of education in the province. Issues include the suspension of posts for temporary teachers, pay being docked from non-striking teachers and the breakdown of scholar transport, the school nutrition scheme and infrastructure. Stevenson said the DA would be laying charges against the department with the Human Rights Commission.
