Dacre Haddon, leader of the Amathole Constituency, with a farmer from Cefani.Members of the DA’s Amathole Constituency have been assisting the community of Cefani to keep their cattle healthy.  They recently held a cattle dipping day, which was attended by constituency leader Dacre Haddon.

The event was the brainchild of local farmer Gavin Swart and his daughter, Councillor Sharne Jacobs, who holds regular events to assist the local farmers to make their cattle disease free.

The dip supplied by the Department of Agriculture is erratic and expensive and as such, essential care for these beasts is unaffordable for the Cefani -farmers.

Mr. Swart,  who is also a DA activist, has generously allowed the community to use the dipping tank facilities on his farm and is encouraging surrounding farmers to assist with this initiative so more cattle can be dipped and remain healthy and disease free.

Offering this initiative is another small way the DA can create opportunity for emerging farmers to farm and sell quality and healthy cattle.
