The DA has scored a significant victory for the motion it tabled on the formation of a sub-council for King William’s Town.
The motion has been accepted with amendment by the Provincial Legislature.
On behalf of the Democratic Alliance I tabled the motion some weeks ago and the matter was debated today in the Legislature.
The motion sought to create a sub-council for the King William’s Town, Sweetwaters, Dimbaza, Ilitha and Breidbach areas in order to effect better service delivery from the Buffalo City Metro.
In view of the complexities of the status of the Buffalo City Municipality to have the capacity to deliver, the Provincial Legislature thought it wise to mandate the MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, to investigate the feasibility of introducing such a council.
The DA thanks all political parties for their support in the matter and we all await the findings of the MEC in due course.
