The first group to complete the Laphumilanga Leadership Programme graduated in Port Elizabeth recently. The programme is an initiative of the DA in the Eastern Cape and was developed after the leadership in the province identified a number of aspirant young leaders during the 2011 local government election campaign. The key objective is to help empower successful applicants with communication, leadership and [political skills. It is available to young South Africans resident in the Eastern Cape between the ages of 18 and 35. The DA firmly believes in developing young leader who will promote our vision of an Open, Opportunity Society for All and play an integral role in achieving our strategic objectives in the run-up to the 2014 elections and beyond.
