DA victorious in two out of three contested wards

We are delighted with our overwhelming, landslide victories in Ward 10 in the Northern Areas of Port Elizabeth and Ward 10 in Ndlambe Municipality.

We are disappointed that we narrowly lost the closely contested Ward 40 by-election by 79 votes in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The by-elections were held as a result of spectacular DA growth in the 2014 general election where DA Ward councillors Marshall von Buchenroder, Vicky Knoetze and Ross Purdon became members of the provincial legislature.

In Ward 40 in the Nelson  Mandela Bay Metro, where our candidate was Dacre Haddon, the ANC threw everything they had into their campaign, including the abuse of state resources to try and retrieve the massive setback they suffered in the 2014 general election, where they achieved only 48% of the vote in the Metro.

This confirms that the 2016 local government elections will be a neck and neck race.  DA supporters who want change will have to come out and vote for it.

In Ward 10 in Nelson Mandela Bay the DA, represented by Andy Jordan, romped home with a massive 92.5%.of the vote.  Similarly, we polled 95% of the vote in Ndlambe Municipality in favour of Raymond Schenk.
