“According to the latest Eastern Cape Economic Review, our South African economy is growing at a miserable 0,6%.”
- Eastern Cape is the 4th largest economy in South Africa contributing an average 7,58% to the country’s G.D.P.
- The Compliance and Environment budget has been increased by just over R25 million.
- We had the Visa debacle with no communication between Home Affairs and Tourism which cost our country many millions.

- Nelson Mandela Bay Metro has continually experienced the highest official unemployment rate of all metros.
- The focus of local and provincial government must be to insure job creation is prioritised.

“The DA supports the budget as a whole but does not support the budget of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform due to the lack of support for developing farmers as well as the critical shortage of veterinarians and inadequate budget for veterinary products amongst others.”
- The one is the pending medical claims in the region of R11,7 Billion.
- The capped leave provision of R6.6 Billion.
- The R776 Million in accruals as at the end of March.
