DA wishes Eastern Cape Matrics well ahead of their finals

The Democratic Alliance extends its best wishes to the estimated 105,189 Grade 12 pupils from the Eastern Cape that have been registered as candidates for the National Senior Certificate, and who will be writing their matric final exams from Monday., 22 October 2018.

Education is the foundation that enables you to grow as an individual and make a difference in the world. Your determination to get a quality education is what will prepare you to become the leaders of the future.

The DA would like to commend all our matrics for their hard work and determination just to get to this point. Many have had to face trying circumstances including teacher shortages, lack of subject content, inadequate scholar transport, mud schools, poor toilet facilities and an unpleasant learning environment.

We would also like to commend our teachers who have also faced enormous hardships, including failing infrastructure, overcrowded classrooms, being forced to teach subjects they are not qualified for and in extreme circumstances, physical assault.

We commend these educators who put the future of our children first, despite these hardships.

The Matric year represents a pivotal time in one’s life and offers the opportunity to set the tone for an individual’s adult life going forward.

Matrics, work hard, burn the midnight oil and put your best foot forward. We believe in you.
